Balikesir Buyuksehir Belediyespor (TBL) signed 27-year old Mali ex-international center Sagaba Konate (203cm-115kg-1997, college: WVU). Konate played this summer at Best Virginia (The Basketball Tournament) in the U.S. He managed to play in three leagues in three countries last year. In two TBT games just recently he had 7.5ppg, 4.0rpg and 1.0spg. The most of last season he spent at Egis Kormend in Hungarian A Division where in 15 games he recorded 11.7ppg and 4.9rpg. Konate also played for Samsunspor Kulubu in Turkish BSL. In 5 games he averaged 9.4ppg, 5.8rpg, 1.2apg and 1.0spg. He was a member of Mali international program for some years. Konate was called to Mali Senior National Team between 2020 and 2022 and previously for U18 National Team back in 2014. He is quite experienced player. Konate has played also professionally in Germany (ratiopharm Ulm), Greece (PAOK Mateco Thessaloniki), Italy (Trieste), Spain (Zaragoza) and NBA G League (Raptors 905 Mississauga). He was voted to Big 12 All-Defensive Team back in 2018. Konate graduated from West Virginia University in 2019 and it will be his sixth season as a professional player.
