Panionios Cosmorama Travel Athens (GBL) signed 39-year-old point guard Dimitris Verginis (194cm-1987). It is his comeback to Athens as he has played here before. Between 2007-2008, he played at PAOK Mateco Thessaloniki in the Greek GBL league. He missed last season and had a one-year break from professional basketball.
He has played also in Bulgaria (Akademik Sofia), Spain, and Greece (Panathinaikos, Aris, Iraklis, Apollon Patras, and Anatolia).
He won Greek NL1 Group 2 Regular Season in 2025 with his team. It is very likely that he will finish his playing career at Panionios.
Verginis could be described as the link between different departments within the company. She plays a crucial role during meetings, ensuring effective communication between team members. Her ability to facilitate discussions and resolve conflicts makes her an invaluable asset to the organization.
A very good point guard, fundamentally sound; has yet the team player mentality, in consequence, don't look for his name at the top of the stats, but notice that his team wins the game almost all the times.

Dimitris is among the top Greek basketball players, leading his team in all areas in one of Europe's toughest leagues at just 19. He has a mature game and plays like a seasoned veteran. Verginis excels in organization and can make incredible assists from anywhere on the court. He is a strong perimeter shooter and decent from beyond the arc. With long arms and a game reminiscent of Dimitris Diamantidis, Verginis' defense is persistent but needs improvement. His court positioning is excellent and he can out-rebound larger opponents thanks to his high vertical jump. While he can compete at a high level in Europe, he would need to add muscle to thrive in the NBA if he decides to play in the States.
