John Petrucelli (ex Galatasaray) agreed terms with Napoli

Gevi Napoli Basket (Serie A) strengthened their roster with addition of 33-year old Italian-American international 193cm swingman John Petrucelli (college: Molloy) for season 2026-27. He played most recently at Galatasaray in Turkish BSL league. In 14 games he recorded 4.3ppg, 1.7rpg and 1.2spg last season. He also played 8 games in Basketball Champions League where he averaged just 2.3ppg, 1.4rpg and 1.0spg. Petrucelli helped them to make it to the quarterfinals. The other team he played shortly was Sportinvest Trapani Sharks.
In 2014 he was drafted by Bakersfield Jam (D-League) in eighth round (119th overall).
The former Molloy College (NCAA Div.II) star is in his 13th (hopefully lucky) season in pro basketball.
He also represented Italy at the FIBA Olympic Games Qualifying Tournament in San Juan (Puerto Rico) two years ago. During this event he scored an average of 5.3 points per game and had 1 rebounds per game.
Petrucelli is a very experienced player. He has played also professionally in Germany (ratiopharm Ulm), Israel (Hapoel Beer Sheva), Slovakia (Iskra Svit), NBA (Orlando Magic), Italy (Brescia), NBA G League (College Park SkyHawks, Maine Celtics and Osceola Magic), The Basketball Tournament (Broad Street B. and Team Detroit) and NBA Summer League (Orlando Magic).
Among many awards Petrucelli's team was regular season runner-up in Italian League in 2025. Petrucelli was also voted to Eurobasket.com All-Italian League Defensive Player of the Year in 2024.
