Crypto Cobra Chiangrai (BTL) has re-signed the experienced 37-year-old British 209cm center
Morakinyo Williams (college:
Citadel) for the upcoming season. He was a team leader there last season. In 20 Thailand games, he recorded very impressive stats: 23.6ppg, 15.4rpg, 2.4apg, and 2.6bpg. He helped them to make it to the Thailand BTL final. It was a good season as he was voted League Player of the Week and selected to Asia-Basket.com All-Thailand BTL Second Team. Last season, he played at
Chaux Sport (D1) in the DR Congolese league.
Williams is a very experienced player. Thanks to Williams' pro career, he managed to play on five different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa, and North America) in thirteen different countries. He has played professionally also in China (Jiangsu), France (Saint Francois), Indonesia (Pacific Caesar and Tangerang), Kosovo, Mexico (Correcaminos), Slovakia, Syria (Al Karameh), Venezuela (Gaiteros), United Kingdom (Trailblazers, Scorchers, Warriors, Leeds Force, and Hoods), Norway (Ammerud), Burundi (Dynamo), Vietnam (Williamsat), and Thailand (PEA, Thai General Equipment, Mekong United BC, and Phuket Master Whales).
Among many awards, his team won the Thailand Basketball League Regular Season in 2019. He was also voted the Eurobasket.com All-British NBL Division One Domestic Player of the Year back in 2022. It may be one of the last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Crypto Cobra.
Williams graduated from Citadel in 2011 and it will be his 16th (!!!) season in pro basketball. He played for other colleges such as University of Duquesne and University of Kentucky.
