Defending champion Petrolina AEK Larnaca (ECOMMBX BL) signed 26-year-old Austrian-Georgian 206cm forward Giorgi Bezhanishvili (college: Illinois) for the upcoming season. He last played for Coviran Granada in the Spanish Liga Endesa, averaging 5.2ppg and 3.2rpg in 12 games. Bezhanishvili also had a stint with Gravelines Dunkerque (Betclic ELITE ProA) in the French league.
Bezhanishvili is a very experienced player, having played professionally in six different countries on three different continents. He has experience in European, Asian, and North American leagues, including Canada (Bandits and Surge), France, Taiwan (Dreamers), NBA G League (Iowa Wolves, College Park SkyHawks, and Grand Rapids Gold), and NBA Summer League (Indiana Pacers).
In 2023, his team reached the CEBL Semifinals. He was voted to USBasket.com All-CEBL Honorable Mention in 2023.
Bezhanishvili graduated from the University of Illinois in 2021, and it will be his fifth season in pro basketball.
