Surne Bilbao Basket (Liga Endesa) signed 25-year old Hungarian international point guard Adam Somogyi (193cm-2000) for the upcoming 2026-27 season. He played last season at NHSZ-Szolnoki Olajbanyasz in the Hungarian A Division. In 32 games, he had 13.8ppg, 4.5rpg, 9.3apg, and 2.0spg. He helped them win the cup and make it to the league final. In the 2025-26 season, he was named to Eurobasket.com All-Hungarian League All-Domestic Players Team, League Player of the Week (2 times), and Eurobasket.com All-Hungarian League First Team. Somogyi also played 7 games in the Basketball Champions League, where he recorded 13.9ppg, 4.7rpg, 8.3apg, and 1.9spg. It was a good season as he was also named League Player of the Week here. The previous (2024-25) season, he played at Breogan Lugo.
He has also been a member of the Hungarian international program for some years. Somogyi has regularly played for the Hungarian senior team since 2019 and previously for the Under 18 National Team in 2018.
He also represented Hungary at the FIBA World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers three years ago. During this event, he scored an average of 6.4 points per game and had 1.8 rebounds per game.
Somogyi has played previously in Spain between MoraBanc Andorra, Zamora, and Baloncesto Sevilla 2nd team, and Hungary between Alba, Szombathely, Debreceni Egyetem, and DEAC U23 Debrecen.
In 2025, he was voted Eurobasket.com All-Hungarian League Domestic Player of the Year among many awards.
