Turk Telekom Ankara (BSL) confirmed in their roster 31-year old American (has also Croatian passport) point guard Jaleen Smith (190cm-93kg-1994, college: UNH) for the new 2026-27 season. He joins another USA player Kris Bankston who is already in the roster. He played there last season. In 30 BSL games, he recorded 12.2ppg, 2.4rpg, and 3.5apg. He helped them to make it to the Turkish Cup Semifinals. He also played 22 games in Eurocup where he averaged 13.3ppg, 2.0rpg, 3.1apg, and 1.0spg. Smith contributed to his team making it to the semifinals. The previous (2024-25) season he played at another Turkish team Bahcesehir.
He also represented Croatia at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 European Pre-Qualifiers last year. During this event, he scored an average of 10.3 points per game and had 2.7 rebounds per game.
Smith is a highly experienced player, having played professionally in Germany with ALBA Berlin, EnBW Ludwigsburg, and MLP Academics Smithidelberg, as well as in Italy with Virtus Bologna, Serbia with Partizan, and in the NBA Summer League with the Phoenix Suns.
Among many awards, he was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Eurocup All-Imports Team in 2025.
He graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2017, and this will be his tenth season as a professional player.
