Hyeres-Toulon Var Basket (ProB) has signed 33-year-old former international 185cm point guard Axel Julien for the upcoming season. This marks his return to Toulon, where he has previously played. Julien's most recent stint was with JDA Dijon Bourgogne in the Betclic ELITE ProA, where he averaged 7.0ppg, 2.0rpg, and 5.1apg in 29 games last season. The move to ProB is expected to provide Julien with more playing time and a better fit for his skills. He also had a solid performance in 6 games in the FIBA Europe Cup, averaging 8.8ppg, 2.7rpg, 5.3apg, and 1.3spg. Julien was also a member of the French international program for some years. He played for French Senior National Team between 2017 and 2022 and previously for the Under 20 National Team in 2012. Julien also represented France at the FIBA World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers three years ago. During this event, he scored an average of 4.3 points per game and had 2 rebounds per game. He has spent his entire career in France playing for two other teams: JL Bourg and Hyeres-Toulon Var Basket U21 team. Among many awards, Julien's team made it to the FIBA Europe Cup Final Four in 2025. Julien was voted to Eurobasket.com All-French ProA Honorable Mention back in 2022.
