Besiktas Fibabanka Istanbul (BSL) signed 28-year-old international 201cm swingman Furkan Korkmaz for the upcoming season. He is a familiar face in the Turkish BSL, having been the leading scorer at Tofas (BSL). In 23 games last season, he averaged 9.0ppg, 2.2rpg, and 1.4apg. Korkmaz also participated in 11 games in the Basketball Champions League, where he posted 7.5ppg, 1.9rpg, and 1.2apg. During the 2024-25 season, he split time between Bahcesehir, a Turkish team, and Monaco in the French league. In 2016, he was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers (NBA) in the first round (26th overall). Korkmaz has also been a member of the Turkish international program for some years. He has regularly played for the Turkish senior team since 2015 and previously for the Under 20 National Team back in 2017. Korkmaz also represented Turkey at the FIBA World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers three years ago. During this event, he scored an average of 14 points per game and had 2 rebounds per game. He has played in France, Turkey (Efes, ITU Basket Istanbul, Bandirma, and Pi Koleji), and the NBA G League (Delaware Blue Coats). Korkmaz's team reached the Eurocup Semifinals in 2025. He was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Turkish League All-Domestic Players Team in 2025.
