Atkins is back at Chemnitz, ex M.Ramat Gan

NINERS Chemnitz (BBL) agreed terms with 33-year old American forward Darion Atkins (203cm-105kg-1992, college: Virginia, agency: Slash Sports) for new 2026-27 season. It is actually his comeback to Chemnitz as he has played here before. He played last season at M.Ramat Gan in Israeli Winner League. In 18 games he had 9.9ppg, 6.1rpg, 1.6apg, 1.0spg and 1.2bpg. The previous (2024-25) season he played at iLab Basketbol (BSL) in Turkish league.
He is quite an experienced player. Atkins has played professionally in France (SIG Strasbourg), Greece (AEK BC Athens), Italy (Reggio Emilia and Dolomiti Trentino), Spain (Tenerife), Turkey (Fethiye), the NBA (NY Knicks), Germany (Bamberg), and the NBA G League (Westchester Knicks).
His team made it to the Italian Cup Final Four in 2024, among many awards. He was voted to the Israeli League All-Star Game back in 2017.
Atkins graduated from the University of Virginia in 2015, and this will be his twelfth season as a professional player.
