BYU’s fourth commitment from the class of 2026 is one of its most unique pickups in program history. G-League center Abdullah Ahmed (6'10''-C-2003) has committed to the Cougars, according to a Tuesday report from Joe Tipton of On3 Sports/Rivals. Ahmed, who stands at 6-foot-10 and is originally from Egypt, played 18 games for the Westchester Knicks over the past two seasons, averaging 3.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game. He chose to commit to Kevin Young and the Cougars over fellow Big 12 foe Houston. A recent NCAA ruling has allowed for former G-League players to be eligible to play in college, allowing Ahmed to land in Provo. According to Robby McCombs of Vanquish the Foe, Ahmed is expected to have two seasons of eligibility to play at BYU, but will join the team during the current season as a redshirt. With Keba Keita currently a senior, Ahmed could replace him as BYU’s starting center next year. Ahmed joins Dean Rueckert, KJ Perry and Will Openshaw as the Cougars’ class of 2026 commitments.
