Newly promoted Esenler Erokspor Istanbul (BSL) re-signed 29-year-old 206cm center Metehan Akyel for the upcoming season. He has played there for the last two seasons.
He has played previously for seven other teams: Turk Telekom, Gaziantep, Bandirma, Bursaspor, TEKSUT Bandirma BK, Buyukcekmece, and Bursaspor.
Akyel won the Turkish TBL championship title in 2025. He was voted to the Eurobasket.com Turkish TBL All-Newcomers Team in 2018.
