Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions (PBA) signed 35-year-old USA-Azerbaijani power forward Ian Hummer (Princeton) for the upcoming season. He last played for Tasmania JackJumpers in the Australian NBL, averaging 4.6ppg and 3.7rpg in 12 games. In the 2023-24 season, he played for Evessa in the Japanese league.
He has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2013.
Hummer is a very experienced player. He has traveled quite extensively during his pro career, playing in eight different countries on three different continents (Europe, Asia, and North America). Hummer has played professionally in Finland (Bisons), France (Monaco), Germany (ratiopharm Ulm, BG Goettingen, and EWE Baskets), Greece (Peristeri and AEK Betsson), Japan, Russia (Avtodor and BC Pari Nizhny Novgorod), and Turkey (Galatasaray, TED Ankara, Bandirma, and Petkimspor).
In 2023, his college team reached the Greek Cup final. He was selected for the Eurobasket.com Greek A1 All-Defensive Team in 2022.
Hummer graduated from Princeton University in 2013 and it'll be his 13th (hopefully lucky) season in pro basketball.
