SPB 2026 - Marinos ink Jose Materan, ex Bauru

Jose Materan

Marinos de Anzoategui (SPB) agreed terms with 29-year old Venezuelan international swingman Jose Materan (198cm-90kg-1996). He moved there from Zopone/Gali/Unimed/Bauru Basket in Brazilian NBB league, but it seems he will not stay with that team after all. In 34 NBB games he had 8.5ppg, 2.8rpg and 1.0apg last season. He has been regularly called to the Venezuelan Senior National Team since 2016.
Materan is a highly experienced player who has played in Argentina (Bahia and Weber Bahia), Brazil (Pato), Colombia (Cimarrones), and Venezuela (Guaiqueries, Gaiteros, Diablos, Cangrejeros, and Comuna).
Materan won the Venezuelan SPB championship title in 2024. He was voted to Latinbasket.com All-Venezuelan SLB Honorable Mention in 2020.
