Thomas Akyazili is a second Turkish player added to the roster of Petkim

Aliaga Petkimspor Izmir (BSL) added 29-year old Belgian ex-international 190cm shooting guard Thomas Akyazili (college: Colorado, agency: Octagon Europe) to their roster for the 2026-27 season. He is the second Turkishplayer in the roster, with Lithuanian Martynas Sajus signing earlier. Akyazili is not a newcomer in the Turkish League, having most recently played at Erokspor in TBL, helping his team get promotion to BSL. In 22 games last season, he recorded just 1.3ppg. Prior to that, he played for three seasons (2022-25) at another Turkish team, Pinar Karsiyaka, where he averaged 4.9ppg, 2.0rpg, and 2.1apg in 22 games during the 2024-25 season.
Akyazili was also a member of the Belgian international program for some years. He played for Belgian Senior National Team between 2016 and 2022 and previously for the Under 20 National Team back in 2017.
Akyazili also represented Belgium at the FIBA World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers three years ago. During this event, he scored an average of 2.8 points per game and had 1 rebound per game.
He has played professionally between Belgium (Antwerp Giants and Telnet Giants Antwerp B team) and Turkey (Bahcesehir and Merkezefendi).
Akyazili's team achieved a spot in the League Semifinals in 2024. He was selected for the Belgian All-Star Game in 2019.
He attended the University of Colorado until 2017, and this will be his tenth season in pro basketball.
