Spartans de Distrito Capital Caracas (SPB) drafted the experienced 45-year old double-passport holder Dominican Rep. shooting guard Kelvin Pena (193cm-1980, college: Southeastern). He moved there from Centauros and will reinforce the team for the SPB 2026 playoffs only. In 12 SPB games just recently he had 13.1ppg, 5.1rpg and 3.4apg last season. He also played for Puerto Plata de Realeza (LDC) in Dominican Rep. league.
Pena is a highly experienced player, having played in seven different countries on three different continents - Europe, Latin America, and North America. He has played professionally in Colombia (Academia), Cyprus, Dominican Republic (Marineros, Soles, Gregorio Urbano Gilbert, Caneros, and Metros), France (JA Vichy), Spain, Uruguay, and Venezuela (Marinos, Toros, Araguenos, and Broncos).
Among many awards, he played in the final of United Cup Superior in 2025. He was voted Latinbasket.com All-United Cup Coca-Cola Player of the Year and Latinbasket.com Dominican Republic LDC All-Tournament Team in 2025. Pena is close to retirement age as a player. It's very possible he may end his playing career at Spartans.
He graduated from Southeastern Community College in 2004 and it will be his 22nd season as a professional player.
