SPB 2026 - Edwin Mijares (ex Olimpico) joins Marinos

Edwin Mijares

Marinos de Anzoategui (SPB) agreed terms with 33-year old Venezuelan international point guard Edwin Mijares (186cm-1992). He moved there from Olimpico in Argentinian La Liga, but it seems he will not stay with that team after all. In 30 La Liga games he had 7.7ppg, 2.5rpg and 2.7apg last season. Last season summer he played at Gaiteros de Zulia where in 16 SPB games he recorded 8.1ppg, 2.1rpg and 3.6apg. He helped them to win the league title. 2025-25 was a great season as he was named to Latinbasket.com All-Venezuelan SPB Honorable Mention. Mijares also played for Marinos de Oriente earlier that season. Mijares is a very experienced player. He has played in Argentina (Dep Viedma), Chile (Ancud), Colombia, Paraguay (Colonias), Venezuela (Cocodrilos, Guaiqueries, Toros, Gigantes and Araguenos) and El Salvador (Metapan).
Among many awards, he was voted Latinbasket.com All-Paraguayan LNB Clausura Import Player of the Year in 2024.
