Zaitsev comes back to Niko Basket

Newly promoted MBC-Niko Basket Mykolaiv (Superleague) strengthened their roster with the addition of 22-year-old 187cm shooting guard Maksym Zaitsev for the 2025-26 season. It is actually his comeback to Mykolaiv as he has played here before. He has played for the last two years at Kyiv Basket (Superleague). In 36 games, he recorded 6.2ppg, 2.5rpg, 1.7apg, and 1.1spg last season. He helped them to make it to the Ukrainian League final after they ended the regular season as the second-best team. For the two previous seasons (2022-24), he played at another Ukrainian team Budivelnyk Kyiv.
Zaitsev represented Ukraine at the FIBA U20 European Championship Division B in Skopje (North Macedonia) two years ago. Zaitsev's team won Bronze and he averaged almost 6 ppg.
