Newly promoted Cayirova Belediye Kocaeli (BS) has agreed terms with 33-year-old Polish international swingman Michal Sokolowski (196cm-89kg-1992) for the new 2026-27 season. He played last season at Karsiyaka (BSL), where in 23 games he had 10.7ppg, 4.6rpg, 1.4apg, and 1.2spg. TBL will be a better match for him, and he can expect more playing time. In the previous (2024-25) season, he played at Dinamo BDS Sassari (Serie A) in the Italian league. The team competed in three different competitions that year, giving Sokolowski the opportunity to experience basketball at various levels. He played 12 games in the Italian Serie A, averaging 9.8ppg, 2.5rpg, and 1.3apg. Sokolowski also participated in 7 games in the FIBA Europe Cup, where he averaged 10.3ppg and 1.9rpg.
He has also been a member of the Polish international program for some years. Sokolowski has regularly played for the Polish senior team since 2015 and previously for the Under 20 National Team in 2012.
He also represented Poland at the FIBA Olympic Games Qualifying Tournament in Valencia (Spain) two years ago. During this event, he scored an average of 9.5 points per game and had 2 rebounds per game.
Sokolowski is a highly experienced player, having played in Israel (Hapoel Holon), Italy (Treviso and Napoli), Poland (Anwil, Znicz, Zastal, Legia, and HydroTruck), and Turkey (Besiktas).
Among many awards, his team won the Italian Cup in 2024. Sokolowski was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Italian League Honorable Mention back in 2021.
