Petar Popovic

Nutrispoint Ilirija Ljubljana (Liga OTP banka) strengthened their roster with the addition of 29-year-old Montenegrin international 194cm point guard Petar Popovic. He started the season at Igokea in Bosnia and Herzegovina Division I. In 11 games, he recorded 6.0ppg, 1.5rpg, and 3.5apg. He also played 4 games in Basketball Champions League where he averaged just 2.8ppg, 2.3rpg, and 2.5apg. Last season, he played at KK FMP SoccerBet Beograd (KLS) in the Serbian league. The team competed in three different competitions that year, and he had a chance to explore basketball on different levels. Popovic also played 6 games in Serbian KLS where he got 3.3ppg, 1.3rpg, 1.2apg, and 1.0spg.
He has also been a member of the Montenegrin international program for some years. Popovic has regularly played for the Montenegrin senior team since 2015 and previously for the Under 20 National Team during 2016.
He also represented Montenegro at the FIBA Olympic Games Qualifying Tournament in Riga (Latvia) two years ago. During this event, he scored an average of 5 points per game and had 2 rebounds per game.
Popovic is a very experienced player, having played in Bosnia, Greece (Nea Kifissia), Serbia (BC Mega MIS Beograd), and Montenegro (Lovcen and Buducnost).
Among many awards, he played in the final of ABA U19 League in 2025. Popovic was also voted to Eurobasket.com All-Montenegrin League Defensive Player of the Year back in 2017.
