Rusichi Kursk (Higher League) signed 40-year-old 191cm point guard Alexey Vzdykhalkin, who is represented by Interperformances. He previously played for BARS-RGEU Rostov in the Superleague, averaging 6.2ppg, 5.3rpg, and 1.3apg in 12 games. Vzdykhalkin played for BC Novosibirsk and BC Irkut Irkutsk in the previous seasons in the Superleague 1. The move to Higher League will provide him with more playing time and a better match.
Vzdykhalkin was a member of the Russian Under 20 National Team in 2005.
He has spent his entire career in Russia playing for eight other teams: Avtodor, Enisey, SSHOR-Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodarskiy Kray, Ryazan, Kupol-Rodniki, BC Pari Nizhny Novgorod, Spartak Primorie Vladivostok and Lokomotiv.
Among many awards, his team was the regular season runner-up in the Russian Superleague 1 in 2024. Vzdykhalkin was voted to the Eurobasket.com All-Russian Superleague 1 Honorable Mention back in 2020. He is close to retirement age as a player. It may be one of the last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Rusichi Kursk.
