Carpegna Prosciutto Basket Pesaro (Serie A2) has agreed terms with 33-year old American power forward Andrew Smith (205cm-100kg-1992, college: Liberty). He started the season at Tezenis Scaligera Verona. In 9 Serie A2 games in Italy, he had 5.0ppg and 3.9rpg. Last season, he played at another Italian team Elachem Vigevano 1955. He also played for Giorgio Tesi Group Pistoia (Serie A) and briefly for Arconic-Alba Fehervar (A Division) in the Hungarian league.
Smith, an experienced player, has had the opportunity to travel to three different continents during his career, playing in ten different countries. He has played professionally in Germany (Science City Jena and Rasta Vechta), Holland (Groningen), Hungary, Israel (Hapoel Eilat), Latvia (Jurmala), Mexico (Soles), Sweden (BC Lulea, Sodertalje and Jamtland), Italy (Ferrara and Brindisi), Czech Republic (Brno) and The Basketball Tournament (Florida TNT). Smith has experienced life as a pro basketball player in Europe, Latin America, and North America.
In addition to these achievements, he has been recognized as the Eurobasket.com All-Swedish Basketligan Center of the Year in 2022. His team finished as the regular season runner-up in the Dutch League in 2020.
Smith graduated from Liberty University in 2015 and is currently in his eleventh season as a professional player.
