KR Reykjavik (Subway League) strengthened their roster with the addition of 31-year-old Latvian international 190cm point guard Toms Leimanis. He started the season at VEF Riga in the Latvian LBL league. In 5 games, he recorded 5.4ppg, 1.4rpg, and 2.2apg. He also played 3 games in the Basketball Champions League where he averaged 6.3ppg, 3.3rpg, and 2.0apg. Last summer, he played at Diablos Rojos del Mexico (LNBP) in the Mexican league.
Leimanis has been a member of the Latvian international program for some years. He has regularly played for the Latvian senior team since 2021 and previously for the Under 20 National Team in 2014.
Leimanis also represented Latvia at the FIBA World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers three years ago. His team won Silver and he had an average of almost 6 points per game.
He is a very experienced player. Leimanis has played also in Belarus (BC Minsk), Estonia (Valga-Valka), Greece (Koroivos), Lithuania (Neptunas), Mexico, Spain (Estudiantes, Valladolid and Monbus Obradoiro) and Ukraine (Odessa).
He has won several awards, including playing in the final of the Spanish LEB Oro Play-Off in 2024. He was voted to the Latvian-Estonian All-Star Game in 2018.
