UMFN Njardvik (Subway League) signed 32-year-old Angolan-Spanish former international 203cm forward Julio De Assis. He was on the verge of joining Stjarnan. Last season, he played for BC Vienna in the Austrian BSL, where he averaged 10.4ppg, 5.1rpg, 2.3apg, 1.7spg, and 1.0bpg in 7 games. De Assis was part of the Angolan Senior National Team in 2018.
De Assis is a very experienced player. He has played in Austria, Spain (Ourense, Grupo Ureta Tizona Burgos, Pas Pielagos, Menorca, and Zamora), Venezuela (Llaneros), and Iceland (Grindavik, Breidablik, and Vestri).
De Assis' team finished as regular season runner-up in the Spanish LEB Plata Group West in 2022. He was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Icelandic League Honorable Mention in 2023.
