Kataja keeps Besselink for another season

Max Besselink

Joensuun Kataja Basket (Korisliiga) re-signed 24-year old 202cm forward Max Besselink for the upcoming season. He played there last season. In two Korisliiga games, he averaged 8.5ppg and 3.5rpg. The previous (2024-25) season, he played at another Finnish team BC Nokia. He also played 20 games in Korisliiga where he had 3.3ppg and 1.8rpg that year.
Besselink was also a member of the Finnish international program for some years. He played for the Finnish Senior National Team between 2023 and 2024 and previously for the Under 20 National Team in 2022.
Besselink also represented Finland at the FIBA World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers three years ago. Besselink's team got to the Semifinals and he averaged over 7 points per game.
He has also played in Belgium (Belfius Mons Hainaut), Germany (BG Goettingen), and Finland (Besselinklsingin NMKY, Seagulls, and Helsingin NMKY U19 team).
Among many awards, his team won the Finnish League Regular Season in 2021. He was voted to the Eurobasket.com All-Finnish 1st Division A Honorable Mention back in 2020.
