Al Ahly Cairo (Superleague) signed 26-year-old Egyptian international power forward Omar El-Sheikh (205cm-99kg-1999, college: Arkansas State). He started the season at Noblesville Boom (NBA G League) in the U.S. In 8 games, he had 4.9ppg and 4.3rpg.
He has also been a member of the Egyptian international program for some years. El-Sheikh has regularly played for the Egyptian senior team since 2023 and previously for the Under 19 National Team in 2017.
He also represented Egypt at the FIBA Olympic Games Qualifying Tournament in Piraeus (Greece) two years ago. During this event, he scored an average of 5.5 points per game and had 3 rebounds per game.
El-Sheikh has also played professionally in Estonia (Tartu), Switzerland (Pully), and the NBA G League (Maine Celtics).
Among many awards, he played in the final of the Estonian League in 2025. He was also voted the Eurobasket.com All-Estonian League Import Player of the Year in 2025.
El-Sheikh graduated from Arkansas State in 2023 and is currently in his third season as a professional player. He has also played for other colleges such as Assumption College and Fairfield University.
