Piratas de Los Lagos (LNB) signed 36-year-old Brazilian center Thiago Mathias, who stands at 208cm tall and played college basketball at N.Mexico JC. This marks his return to Ibarra, where he has previously played. Mathias most recently played for Botafogo in the Brazilian NBB league, averaging 8.7ppg and 5.5rpg in 28 games last season. He was also named League Player of the Week during that time. He has also played professionally in Argentina (Petrolero), Venezuela (Pioneros), and Brazil (Vivo/Franca, Joinville, Vasco da Gama, Paschoalotto/Bauru, and Pinheiros). His team made it to the National League Semifinals in 2017. It may be one of the last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Piratas. Mathias attended NMJC until 2008 and it will be his 18th season in pro basketball.
