Benito Santiago
Defending champion Los Paisas de Medellin (LBP) strengthened their roster with the addition of experienced 36-year-old Colombian 197cm swingman Benito Santiago (college: Cumberlands). He played this summer at Cangrejeros de Santurce in the Puerto Rican BSN league. In 46 games he recently played, he recorded 5.3ppg and 2.2rpg. He helped them end the regular season as the second-best team in the league and advance to the league semifinals. Santiago is a very experienced player. He has played professionally in Chile, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, and Colombia. Santiago has played for various teams during his career, including Club Deportes Espanol de Talca, Puerto Montt, San Carlos, Marineros, Lenadores, Panteras, El Calor, Vaqueros, Atleticos, Mets, Indios, Bigua, and Toros. Santiago was voted to the Uruguay LUB All-Star Game back in 2016. It may be one of the last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Paisas. He graduated from University of the Cumberlands in 2013 and it will be his 14th (hopefully lucky) season in pro basketball. Santiago played also for Lon Morris College for one year.
