Jo Van Buggenhout transfers to Sacred Heart

Sacred Heart University signed 22-year old Belgian international 6-2 guard Jo Van Buggenhout for the new season. He moved there from Indiana State University where he played for only one year. In 24 games last season, he averaged 6.3ppg, 2.0rpg, and 3.0apg.
He played at BV Topsportschool U16 Antwerp between 2017-18, Remant Basics Melsele-Beveren during 2020-21, BC Guco Lier Vzw during 2021-22, Kangoeroes Basket Mechelen during 2021-23, Windrose Giants Antwerp during 2023-24, and then at Hubo Limburg United for one season. Van Buggenhout helped his team make it to the EYBL U16 Division 2 Final Four in 2018. His team ended the regular season as the second-best place in BNXT League Group B in 2022 and 2024. He helped his team make it to the Belgian League Finals in 2022 and 2024, winning the Belgian Top Division I Championship in 2022. Van Buggenhout helped his team make it to the Belgian Top Division I Semifinals in 2023 and was voted to the Eurobasket.com All-Belgian Top Division I Second Team that year. He received the Eurobasket.com All-BNXT League Belgium Rising Star of the Year award in 2024 and was selected to the Eurobasket.com All-Belgian Pro Basketball League Second Team that
He has also been a member of the Belgian international program for some years. Van Buggenhout has regularly played for the Belgian senior team since 2024 and previously for the Under 16 National Team in 2019.
