South Bay Lakers added 27-year-old Australian international guard William Hickey (6'5''-187lbs-1999) to their roster. He started the season at Illawarra Hawks in the Australian NBL league. In 27 games, he recorded 12.7ppg, 5.9rpg, 6.2apg, and 1.0spg. It was a good season for him as he was named League Player of the Week.
He also represented Australia at the FIBA Asia Cup in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) last year. His team won Gold and he averaged nearly 11 points per game.
Hickey has played also in Australia (United, Tigers, Sydney City Comets, Bandits and Miners), New Zealand (Tuatara) and NBA Summer League (Chicago Bulls).
In addition to winning the Australian League championship title in 2025, he was also voted Australiabasket.com All-Australian NBL1 East Defensive Player of the Year in 2024.
